Making a splash šļø
Hold the front page...
People often (rightly) ask me how I plan on getting ordinary voters to care about Nigel Farageās indiscretions.
I recognise that itās all well and good sending my investigations to you fine people ā who are probably already enraged about Reformās cruel, corrupt policies ā but itās also important to break out of the bubble.
Thatās why Iām excited about our campaign to target Reform constituencies with adverts exposing the truth about Farage. And itās why Iām chuffed to report that one of my stories has today made the front page of The Guardian.
Yesterday, I crunched the numbers on Farageās earnings so far as an MP, finding that his income and gifts have now exceeded the Ā£2 million mark. This is on top of the Ā£5 million āgiftedā to the Reform leader by crypto billionaire Christopher Harborne prior to the 2024 election.
We published this story on the DeSmog site, and landed it in partnership with The Guardian.
In other words, we got a story about Farageās finances on the front page of a national newspaper on the day of major elections across the UK. Thatās a big victory for all of us who are trying to shine a spotlight on Reformās dodgy donations.
Iām going to be spending the next few days digesting the results, but stay tuned for reflections on what they mean for democracy in Britain and Reformās chances of winning the next general election.
