Nigel Farage, knowing from extensive private (illegal?) polling done during the day that Leave had won, made a concession speech that Remain had won. The pound surged on the exchanges as a result leaving Farage and his cronies as the few people in the marketplace that knew the opposite was the case.
I didn't know this Peter (so thank you for posting) but it doesn't remotely surprise me - isn't this just another chapter (titled "Manipulate the Markets") out of Trump's playbook?
I REALLY wish Reform's incurious (and often, poorly educated) supporters had even the slightest inkling of how deep Farage's grift goes and how little he cares about anything other than enriching himself. Indeed, how little he cares about them (the "useful idiots") and again, like Trump, he probably has nothing but contempt for them for their stupidity. I just hope that this Instant Gratification Society of voters doesn't have to suffer any personal detriment (as some MAGAts have in the US) before they wake up to what a Reform UK government would mean for the ordinary citizens of this country. Maybe they should start by asking themselves, "Why does Reform UK want to repeal the Equality Act 2010"?
Don't agree with people living abroad having a say in UK politics. Even if British, they decided elsewhere was better, more fair, more advantageous, etc. I think the Delo pleb will be paying others to donate 100k in their own name, but on his behalf when he moves to the UK. Always so bloody hypocritical as its ok for them to be immigrants in other countries. Yet scream hell fire when others do it, especially legally. If they cared so much, they wouldn't have upped n left in the 1st place. As a Brit abroad I have only once voted in the UK and that was before I left. So I could not vote in the 2016 referendum! After the law change a few years ago I applied and my vote has been returned - took a year but too late for the last GE! I am a dual citizen and can vote there as well! I certainly take it seriously!
Another great piece connecting opaque finance, hedge funds and cryto-currencies to the fasvist Right. Of course, the Counterfeit Labour government doesn't go far enough and all of this dark money needs to be purged out of politics altogether. I'm now wondering, should Orban (hopefully) lose the election on Sunday, will Frank Furedi petition to move MCC Brussels to the UK as it is one of the main conduits for Russian money into Britain's fascist Right.
