Tory peer goes on anti-climate crusade while holding oil and gas shares
Turns out that Lord Moynihan of Chelsea, who has £300,000 tied up in fossil fuel firms, isn't a fan of net zero...
The audacity of certain politicians startles me on a weekly basis, and this week was no different.
In speeches to the House of Lords in each of the last three months, Tory peer Lord Moynihan of Chelsea has poured scorn on the UK’s net zero emissions targets.
He has called our climate ambitions a “religion”, and a “catastrophic programme” that will cause “misery” to ordinary Brits.
However, the Conservative peer (a major Tory donor, and a funder of pro-Truss Tufton Street think tanks) failed to point out that he personally holds oil and gas investments worth at least £300,000.
The companies in his portfolio include Shell and TotalEnergies – some of the firms that are directly responsible for climate change, that have a vested interest in stopping the clean every transition.
As usual, you couldn’t make it up.
