Relentlessly platformed by BBC Question Time, free to spout fact-free fallacies and outright xenophobia across the oligarch-owned media – it’s little wonder Reform UK is surging in the polls.
Farage claims to be anti-establishment; anti-elite. In reality, he’s a millionaire, Dulwich-educated former trader who thinks that pulling pints and shouting at immigrants gives him the right to speak on behalf of working-class Britain.
And large sections of the legacy media have helped Farage create this mythology.
As a result, most of the meaningful resistance to Reform – holding the party to account for its dodgy donations, its kamikaze economics, and its anti-asylum extremism – will inevitably come from independent media.
I revealed this week that there are reasons for hope. New research shows that exposing Farage’s corporate funders seriously damages his image in the eyes of the public.
I’ve been digging into Farage’s big-money backers for years. In 2019, I even succeeded in giving money to the Brexit Party under the name Vladimir Putin – revealing the flaws in his PayPal donations system.
But this work takes time. It takes resources. Farage is bankrolled by billionaires and oligarchs. If we’re going to fight back, we have to pool our power – and give him something to worry about.
That’s why I’m asking you to become a paid subscriber today.
You won’t just be supporting independent, fearless reporting – you’ll be fueling the very investigations that rattle Farage and his corporate backers.
Truth hurts. And that’s exactly why it matters.
About me
I’m an investigative journalist and current affairs writer who has worked with the New York Times, the Guardian, the Mirror, the New European, Novara Media, New Statesman, Led By Donkeys, and others.
I specialise in exposing dark money and radical right-wing ecosystems.
I also write a lot about inequality and elitism, and am the author of two books on those very subjects: Fortress London, and Bullingdon Club Britain.
Why subscribe
Trump, Musk and Farage are on the march – followed closely by Badenoch and an increasingly radicalised Conservative Party. Investigative journalism exposing their funding sources, their plans, and their networks has never been more important.

“A new and vital force in journalism, Bright’s well-crafted investigations and political scoops have already won him plaudits. His reports have forced government ministers on to the defensive and left the mainstream media trailing in his wake, playing desperate catch up.”

Brilliant research.
Keep up the good work…
